END USER means one who is using LEARN vCR platform for hosting his/her meetings or classes, or the authorities of an institution who are asking their staff members to use the platform. You are using LEARN vCR means, you have agreed with the following terms and conditions. Even though the following points have been stated as terms & conditions, most of them are standard practices.
1. You have to be a teacher of a LEARN member institution and agree to use the platform only for academic and relevant research and administrative activities. Using it for any other activity is completely prohibited.
2. Before start using LEARN vCR for academic activities, you have to read and understand the USER GUIDE and the END USER AGREEMENT (this page).
3. Teachers of LEARN members may use the platform at no cost, without Service Level Agreement (SLA), but at the best effort of LEARN engineering with full of cooperation with its end users (you).
4. The end users have no right to make any claims in an event of outages or mishapens while using the platform, but may cooperate with LEARN engineering to get it back to normal operation. In case of service outage or misbehavior, the end users agree to immediately report the issue with a short description and clear evidence of screenshots/screen-captures of the incident.
5. LEARN shall not provide any kind of official reports of outages or your sessions details. However your sessions reports will automatically be emailed early in the next morning. It is only for your reference. LEARN shall not responsible for any other uses.
6. All of your session participants (students) join as guests. They will be appeared on the participants list by the name in which they type just before joined to the session. When you have a very big session, one can use a fake name to do something bad. In such an event, it is not possible to track the real person. Therefore, it is your responsibility to lock participants audio, video and screen sharing to make sure that no one can disturb the session. LEARN shall not responsible for such incidents and shall not agree to investigate to recognize the real person.
7. Your sessions join links (URLs) should not be published on social media (Facebook, Twitter, etc) or on any public website including your campus website. If you published, anonymous can easily find it and join to your session to disturb you. It should be sent to your students over emails or any other trusted method otherwise you can put it on your LMS.
8. The whole platform built on Free Open Source BigBlueButton cluster on top of Free Open Source Linux cloud infrastructure with an extensive R&D effort of LEARN engineering without any vendor supports, may not be feature rich as the well known expensive commercial platforms. This is completely free of charge if you are from a LEARN member institution.
9. When you or your students are outside the campus, the platform can be accessed with free data charge facility provided by the local Internet Service Providers on behalf of the higher education. The facility is temporary. In an event of you have been charged, it is your duty to friendly discuss with your ISP to get it enabled, otherwise move to a different ISP.
10. The platform has to be accessed over LEARN Identity Access Federation. Credentials has to be provided for the end users by their affiliated institution through its identity management system (IDP) . The end users have to use only the credentials provided by their primary home institution. However, it can be used to teach in many LEARN member institutions. Only in case of your primary home institution failed to provide you right credential, you can use your eduID. If don't have one, you can Sign Up here to get it within 48 hours.
11. Number of accounts allocated to an institution is based on the platform capacity and it is proportional to the contribution made to LEARN by the institution.
12. It is a sole responsibility of the authorities of the member institution to provide access accounts to the affiliated permanent academic staff only for academic activities. The personal access accounts should not be provided to the temporary and the part time staff members. A few common accounts closely supervised by a coordinator can be used. Providing accounts to the students for any reason is completely prohibited. Account created using fake/invalid identity information (Name, Mobile, Email, etc) will be disabled without prior noticed. English characters, _, . and - are only allowed in username/uid (numbers and other characters are not allowed). To authorize access, the value learn-vcr has to be added into the attribute eduPersonEntilement of individuals identities in institutional IDPs while managing them to fall within the entitled quota limit. When an institute exceeded their quota, the last created accounts will not be enabled. Institutional Identity Administrators has to configure a new relying-party for the entityid https://bbb-fdds.learn.ac.lk/Saml2/proxy_saml2_backend.xml in their IDP.
However, the access has been temporary granted for everybody up to 31st December 2023 until the users to get familiar and also for the institutions to get the above mandatary requirement implemented at their identity management (IDP).
