OBS Studio to stream LEARN vCR sessions on YouTube or Facebook

You can stream your vCR Sessions on YouTube and Facebook for thousands of non interactive viewers. Follow the steps 1 to 4 carefully to get the live streaming for LEARN vCR. You may not be able to stream to both YouTube and Facebook at the same time using one computer, but you could do it using two computers. Use one computer to host the session while streaming to YouTube and the second one to join the session as guest to stream to Facebook.

NOTE: You may have to practice the steps a couple of times to be a master of live streaming. Trying this first time just before a real event may not be a good idea.

Step 1 - Download and Install OBS Studio

OBS Studio is a free and open-source, cross-platform for screencasting and streaming. It is available for Windows, macOS, Linux distributions, and BSD. It may be also used for local recordings.

If you don't have OBS, you can download here and then install.

Step 2 - Prepare OBS Studio for Live Streaming

Start OBS Studio application. You will see the following screen.

obs

Click Studio Mode button at the right bottom corner of the control panel. Then the screen will be divided in to two.

scene

In Sources tab, click + Add Source. Add a Window Capture . Then property window will appear and you have to select the Window by clicking the drop-down list and click ok (selected window preview will appear on the property window).

Source

On Mac OS, select macOS Screen Capture and then set the Method as Window Capture.

To get the LEARN vCR into the scene, select the browser tab on which your session is going to be viewed. The tab should not be the one your session started, but it should be a different tab you separately joined to the session. Two tabs; one to host your session and another to view and stream your session. Streaming the presenter/teacher (host) scene should not be a good idea as it is not the participants view.

In Preview: Scene , You have to adjust the scaling to the canvas by playing with tiny red squares. You can also drag the image here and there.

Under the Sources tab, click again the + to add an Audio Input Capture. Select device accordingly as you prefer or keep it as default.
